Feb. 28th, 2006 01:06 pmI live down by the San Diego River. The bus that I take to UCSD every morning stops on the other side of the river. It's a nice ten-minute walk. Most days. But the thing is, the road doesn't have a proper bridge over the river. It goes down one bank, across the riverbed, and up the other side. There are three huge pipes to carry the water - there's usually a respectable amount of water, this isn't like the drainage culvert with a puddle in the bottom that they call the Los Angeles River. It rained all night last night, so this morning I got to the point where the road goes "over" the river and discovered that today, the river goes over the road. It was about a foot deep and much too wide to jump across.
Why the hell did they not build a real bridge? It's not like they didn't see this coming. They keep ROAD CLOSED DUE TO FLOODING signs by the side of the road for immediate use. It would be better for the wildlife. There Is No Excuse.

Date: 2006-02-28 04:09 pm (UTC)I decided against the La Jolla Palms one - three people in a 1-bedroom, that's too cramped for me - but I might have a line on a Mesa room now. *hopehope*
