I got me a new bike, er, two weeks ago now. It's a "hybrid" model, a Marin Larkspur. This is a local company and they design these bikes specifically for San Francisco's streets. It weighs half what the old bike did and it may well be twice as fast.

I did manage to debug my own code eventually; however, it turned out slower than the thing it was supposed to be faster than. Drat.

So what's the bike a hybrid of? My brain went in way the wrong direction for a moment as joedecker was just telling saizai (and myself, though I'd already heard most of it) all about his Prius the other day.

In this case "hybrid" means it has the flat handlebars and the big granny gears of a mountain bike, but the sturdiness-to-weight tradeoff and the skinny near-slick tires of a road bike. Which is just what one wants going up and down San Francisco hills.
