kettle update
Sep. 12th, 2004 08:20 pmI got an Oxo brand tea kettle. This has a nice quiet whistle, an openable lid, and a properly insulated handle with a clever linkage that automatically opens the spout when you lift the kettle off the stove. Very well balanced too; no risk of spillage. Its bottom is made of boring stainless steel, which I was a little worried about its poor heat-conduction properties, but it doesn't seem to be a problem (the huge volume of water immediately above the steel probably evens things out better than a copper bottom would). Somewhat more expensive than the Revere model
fyfer recommended, but I think worth it.
