Ha! I made that very observation (re: MASS, not PwD) to a professor this afternoon. If you are truly desperate, he did offer to loan me his spare copy :-). (Also I managed to snag "Mixed-Effect Models in S and S-Plus" off the just-returned shelf yesterday, if for some reason that is a useful substitute for you...)

The library came through with an ILL for PwD yesterday (someone at UCIrvine is now irritated with me) and I hope that'll be enough, but I might want to come over later in the week and look at Mixed-Effect Models, depending.
