A for intent, D- for execution
Oct. 22nd, 2007 09:31 amUCSD is closed today because the air is full of smoke from the wildfires out in east county. Good on them. I was rather expecting it — the air was already bad yesterday, and it's only getting worse.
I found out about this by way of a worried email from a student at 8am today, saying
A few minutes after that, I got an email notification from the CRL sysadmin saying yes, campus closed.
It was not till about 8:50, well after I would have been out the door on a normal Monday, that the official email announcement showed up.
Clue phone: Most of us check our email shortly after waking up. Most of us do not look at the university website unless given reason to do so. Send the mass email first.
Additional negative points for sending me two copies of the notification and calling my cell phone (at 9am) twice. And the offsite emergency phone line still claims all is well.

tritonlink says campus is closed, do we still have midterms? At that point, the university website clearly stated campus was closed and all classes were cancelled, but the offsite emergency phone line claimed all was well and I'd received no official notification.
