on the way home.
Aug. 1st, 2008 05:22 pmI've been up for a little more than twelve hours, the first seven or so of which were spent on a bus, north from Whistler through Pemberton to Lillooet, then back south along the Fraser River, through Yale and Hope and Chilliwack. Great city names, eh? (Route map.) I won't say it was fun, but at least I got to see a part of the world I might never have seen otherwise. Photos forthcoming.
Now I'm sitting in the quite modern and surprisingly non-ugly Vancouver airport (or at least this terminal is); got here at elevenish, plane leaves at six-thirty. Fortunately I have books. And Internets. And I have managed to use up all of my Canadian money, mostly on food. And, earlier, I got to babble about cognitive linguistics (specifically as regards quick and dirty natural language processing) to Jono, one of the authors of Ubiquity (see also). I missed his demo at the summit, but very similar things featured at CHI last year and seemed pretty darn cool.
