I need to be talked out of writing an RFC to define MIME types for fonts.

Too comprehensible. Permission not granted till every other word is an acronym or headexploding jargon.

Would like to comply, but am genuinely at a loss as to complexifying circumlocutions.

Then you don't get to do it.

So you're meta-RFCing on a @font-face MIME-type RFC?
("
a
@font-face"? "
an
@font-face"? Those both look so wrong.)

Yeah, it would have to be pretty meta, because it turns out that
there is no top-level MIME category for fonts
. My head just about exploded yesterday when I discovered this.
I'd go with "a @font-face" because by me the @ is silent.
