walking around the old lighthouse at Point Loma. even if it was much too hot at the time.

watching Cube and Harold and Kumar go to White Castle back to back. (an experience similar to listening to Bruce Springsteen until you're good and depressed, and then Led Zeppelin until you're happy again.)

assembling puzzles very late at night.

finding a copy of the 1964 Joy of Cooking in a used bookstore in Encinitas for $6.50. also the nigh-unfindable Cats Have No Lord for two fifty.

plotting to grow basil and sage and thyme and rosemary on one's patio.

I've read Cats Have No Lord and can think of at least one reason why you might be annoyed with the author, but I'm confused how Joy of Cooking comes into it...?

You mean you don't find that sudden change of style at the end of Joy of Cooking, the bit after the condiments where it suddenly changes to an alphabetical listing, to be irritating? It's not nearly as good reading after that. ;)
