If you have an hour to spare, please consider doing my web survey. This will help with actual genuine scientific research! It's a "norming survey"; the goal is to make sure that the stimuli to be used in a future experiment are properly designed.

It was definitely starting to get to the point where I was wondering if the "goes between X and Y" and "is from X to Y" questions were supposed to be significantly different for the different stories they were asked about, and whether there was some distinction I was entirely missing that meant it wasn't just asking the same question over and over with different strings, and I was well past second-guessing myself and into third- or fourth-guessing by the time the survey got through with them.

As it happens, part of the point of this exercise is to be able to argue that there isn't any difference between those two strings on the level of "is it true?" (That difference is one of the critical experimental manipulations. I will explain further after the study is taken down.)
